Australia debut in 1999, Adam Gilchrist

He holds the record for the highest number of sixes in Test cricket, won three World Cups and was a mainstay of one of the greatest Test teams of all-time.
He also managed to maintain his dignity and the respect of his fellow players playing in an Australia team which pushed 'sportsmanship' to the very limits.
Then, suddenly, decided he was not able to compete at his very best anymore and quit Test cricket, four appearances short of the 'magical' 100 mark.
